Montenidoli, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Tuscany, “Fiore” (2017)
This Tuscan white is superbly savory! Aromas of summer herbs, chive, basil, and a hint of balsamic complement a vibrant palate of green apple and stony minerality. Woman-made, working organic, and named Montenidoli “mountain of little nests,” for the hundreds of tiny swallows nests that speckle the area. The vineyard and surrounding area has never seen use of chemicals, making it the perfect spot for the swallows, and for the native Vernaccia grape. Great with asparagus, pecorino cheese, caprese, and hearty fish. We call it a white wine for red wine lovers.
