Top 10 Most Romantic Restaurants in Washington, DC
2941 Restaurant
Chef-owner Jonathan Krinn and his bread-baking father, Mal Krinn, have teamed up to present one of the area's most outstanding restaurants---and it's hard to know where to begin. The setting: an elegant room with a waterfront view (the restaurant is on a lake). The artisan breads: baked fresh twice daily, and including such flavors as fennel seed country, cumin country, fig-almond and cherry-pecan. The food: extravagant cooking---the owners call it modern French-American---that is simply sensational. The crispy calamari morsels with a sweet-and-sour sauce are fork tender in their velvety coating. Crispy breaded chicken filled with Gruyère and fresh sage is presented as roulades with a bed of greens, and is accented by marinated olives and a caper sauce. Dessert is a don't-miss course of dark chocolate mousse cake or a cider-glazed baked apple terrine.
