2941 Restaurant - Gift Certificates

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Chilled Crab salad
blood orange gelÉe, mango, lime

Serves 6

  • 1 cup fresh blood orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon white balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 grams gelatin or 3 sheets
  • 1 pound Maine sweet crab meat or Jonah crab meat
  • 4 mint leaves finely chopped
  • ½ champagne mango diced
  • 4 radishes
  • 2 scallions
  • 2 limes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 leaves of Thai basil
  1. Bring ½ cup of blood orange juice, sugar and gelatin to a boil.
  2. Cook two minutes to melt down the gelatin and sugar.
  3. Add the rest of the juice and vinegar, cool down on an ice bath and place in the refrigerator for a minimum of one hour.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the crab, chopped mint, chopped basil, lime juice, small pinch of lime zest, diced mango, olive oil and salt to taste.
  5. Cut the green scallion leaves on the bias.
  6. Shave the radishes into thin slices.

Sweet Charity is a benefit organized to help The Heart of America Foundation’s Books from the Heart program. The event is a benefit organized to help The Heart of America Foundation provide books for needy children.  Top hotels and restaurants, chefs and pastry chefs, political leaders, community business leaders, and young professionals all support the campaign across the country. The proceeds from ticket sales and silent auction will help replenish under-resourced libraries and classrooms in the greater Washington region.

A CELEBRATION OF VIRGINIA VIOGNIER & METRO DC'S FINEST RESTAURANTS

Tarara Winery will launch their 20th anniversary year on May 30, 2009 with their inaugural Fine Vine Festival: Just Say Viognier, a collaborative event designed to spotlight Virginia Viognier wines and Metro DC’s finest restaurants.

Guests will experience an exquisite five course meal from the region’s most exclusive restaurants – 2941, Della’s, Equinox, The Restaurant at Patowmack Farms and Vintage 50.   Each course will be designed specifically to compliment the selection of Virginia Viogniers from Casanel Vineyards, Cooper Vineyards, Keswick Vineyards, Tarara Winery and Veritas Vineyard & Winery. In addition to epicurean delights and live music, attendees will enjoy the tented outdoor fête on the grounds of Tarara Winery nestled in the bluffs of the Potomac River.
