New Lunch Menu at 2941

We are pleased to announce a new lunch menu at 2941. Our new menu accommodates everything from a brief business lunch to a casual fine dining meal with friends. Chef Chemel’s new mid-day line up offers his wonderful interpretation of traditional lunch dishes, focusing on simplicity and fine ingredients. Guests can enjoy a new selection of Panini, such as the Prosciutto di Parma with fontina and truffle essence and the Ham & Brie, Chef's sophisticated take on the traditional ham and cheese, in addition to a selection of elegant lunch entrees. As always, our lunch hours are Monday through Friday, from 11:30AM to 2:30PM.

Announcing - New Bread at 2941

2941 Restaurant is introducing an entirely new line-up of its bread. Artisan baker Patrick Deiss prepares the new bread twice daily to compliment Chef Chemel’s innovative menu. The new recipes change weekly using high quality market ingredients and seasonal products to create a bread experience that is fresh, modern and more in harmony with the latest dishes coming out of Chemel’s kitchen.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Deiss has worked in the kitchens of acclaimed Washington, DC restaurants like Gerard’s Place, Asia Nora, and Restaurant Nora before becoming part of the original team that opened 2941 where he served as Chef de Cuisine. Most recently, Deiss has been responsible for recruiting, recipe research and business development for 2941.

Soon after Chef Chemel’s arrival in the restaurant, he called upon Deiss to make the transition from chef to baker. Chef Chemel’s goal was to introduce a new line of artisan breads that are more reflective of his own style of cooking and the restaurant's evolving culinary philosophy. He knew that Deiss was an extremely talented chef who also had a gift for baking. He sent him on a quest to overhaul the bread program entirely. Deiss delivered.

After exhaustive menu research, Deiss perfected his bread baking techniques at The San Francisco Baking Institute (SFBI,) a world-renowned leader in artisan bread and the only school in the United States dedicated exclusively to artisan baking.  There Deiss received hands-on, “real world” experience with the latest baking equipment and technology. 

A passionate chef and baker, Deiss constantly works on new recipes to share with his customers. Whether it is a warm and crusty baguette or a perfect loaf of San Francisco sourdough, Deiss is committed to providing customers with a slice of perfection in every bite.

Passion Cocktail

You can get into the spirit of romance with our specialty cocktail of the month “Passion,” made with an infusion of vodka, cranberries, passion fruit, and oranges, mixed with cranberry juice, and garnished with an edible rose petal. Priced at $12 the cocktail is through the month of February.

The 7th annual Sugar & Champagne Affair will be held on January 28th, 2009, at the Ritz Carlton, 1150 22nd Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20037 from 7:00p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Guests and their dogs will be greeted by the world’s finest sparkling wines, champagne and delicious desserts from the area’s top Pastry Chefs.

Tickets are $85 per person, with a special VIP ticket for $125. The VIP reception will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. and feature three 30-minute chef demonstrations. This annual event is in honor of the Washington Humane Society Officers who work 24-hours a day, saving the homeless, lost, neglected and abused animals and our Humane Education program that teaches elementary school children compassion and respect for animals.
